Wayne Industries started in 1968 when Jimmy Easterling saw the earning potential of a flashing arrow sign. While working full-time, he used his evenings and weekends to build a sign business that he hoped would one day become his day job. A large order came in for 10 signs, which he knew he would not complete unless he took a risk and went at it full time to complete the order. After more than thirty years, that risk paid off. What began as a business out of his garage grew into a respected and established sign and display business called Wayne Industries in Clanton, Alabama. In 1998, Wayne Industries was acquired by EBSCO Industries, Inc.
J.M. Stewart Corporation was the first to introduce an internally illuminated church message sign in 1968. As an industry leader that continues to set high standards, J.M. Stewart Corporation continuously updates and upgrades products using the latest emerging technologies. In 1997, it added a government division that focuses primarily on military customers and is beginning to gain market share in the municipal market. Today, J.M. Stewart is the largest provider of outdoor message center signs in both the church and school markets. In 2001, J.M. Stewart Corporation was acquired by EBSCO Industries, Inc.
